Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast Hosting Tapas-Style Dinner May 2

The Special Cuisines class at Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast invites the community to join its students, faculty and staff for a tapas-style dinner May 2. This popular annual event will conclude the college’s Special Cuisine Dinner Series for 2013.

Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers and snacks, originating from Spanish culture, which are often combined to serve as a full meal. Tapas-style eating is the perfect opportunity to spend time with friends and family, while sampling a seemingly endless variety of foods from around the world. No other dining experience in Fort Wayne offers such an extensive and unique menu featuring gourmet soups, cheeses, meats/seafood, vegetables and sweet treats.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience,” said chef Jeff Bunting, chair of the Hospitality Administration program. “Many of the culinary students’ food creations are made on a whim before they are served. Patrons will get this experience nowhere else at such an affordable price.”

This year’s menu items will include mussel and crawfish chowder, tapenade on crostini with pickled vegetables, bacon-wrapped pheasant tenders, pork and mushroom pot stickers, shepherd’s pie and Caesar salad with black-bread croutons.

Dinners are open to the public. Reservations are required. The dinners are served on Ivy Tech’s Coliseum Campus (3800 N. Anthony Blvd.) in the Anthony Commons (enter door 50 on the south side of the building). Cost is $20 per person, cash or check only. Beer and wine is available for an extra cost.

Reservations are taken for times between 5 and 6:30 p.m. and must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Call the Special Cuisines line at 260-480-2002 to make a reservation. Upon calling the hotline, guests will receive a confirmation number, which they must present upon arrival.
